the space to stretch

drinking: chocolate spice tea
listening: to miles davis

i moved into the apartment in the 19th yesterday. i splurged on a taxi because my bags were so heavy (with artichokes & psychology textbooks, russian novels & pairs of boots) that my shoulders were practically falling off.
the cats, simone & bella, are my quiet antagonists. bella scratched me when she was hungry but curls up around my ankles & spreads herself on the floor in front of my path so that i will please-just-scratch-her-belly-a-little. simone sits on the office chair & looks at me silently, longingly. "i don't know what you want, my sweets!" i sing to her. bella eats all of simeone's food & simone is consequentially very thin. it feels like such a luxury, to have all this space to myself. i spent the afternoon writing letters on the typewriter & baking (elaboration to come).
yesterday, i walked around a strange park that has a man-made lake & man-made mountain & is beautiful in a way that looks like it was translplanted from either venus or new york. i cuddle cats while i read & eat my breakfast in the morning; today i woke up at 7:00 am (! i can't remember ever doing that). i made myself a pot of himalayan sunrise tea & ran around the apartment without any clothes on listening to miles davis, then took a really quick bath (i always plan on soaking for a long time, but just get too antsy thinking of all the things i want to do). (i also haven't been clean in a long time).

my days lately have been busy in a planned and relaxed way; waking up to have brunch with friends, and sit around in the luxembourg gardens drinking wine in the mid-afternoon.
