Harriet, the EuroStar

drinking: bourbon tea
thinking: the farthest my brain can stretch is numerology

1. finally finally finished with exams!

2. i got two A+'s on papers, my firsts of university!

3. i sent poetry submissions to three different literary magazines, but only to the best. realistic hopes versus idealistic goals means i probably wasted my money on stamps.

4. TO ENGLAND TOMORROW! shanna & i are dressing up to take the eurostar to london, then i go on to take a bus to southampton where i will be greeted with seven loving pairs of arms & a big white bed prepared just for me. one of my favorite beds in the world.

5. i'm going to the market tomorrow morning so that i can bring pastries & bread & cheese & jam for a parisian picnic in the south of england.

6. i will miss many of the friends i made who are only staying for one semester, but we are already making plans for road-trips across north america. plans that are nice to think about, for it's nice to delay real goodbyes, even if they never come to fruition.

7. i finished "never let me go" & am still working it out in my head. it was very quietly disturbing.

8. i took the 87 bus its whole route today, just to think & look for longer. all the way through bastille to charenton, thinking about charlotte corday all the way.

9. matt & i held a pretend-formal meeting about publishing a story i wrote to which he is going to do the illustrations. he showed me his portfolio, we discussed colour themes & style inflections. it was very real.

10. a boy told me that he loves me. he is very far away.

11. i get to see michelle in a week!

12. i need to stop pretending that i am rich & coming up with intricate theories on why i am entitled to 22 euro lipgloss.

13. i got glasses! & sunglasses! through my school health insurance. marc jacobs & rayban wayfarers.

thirteen is good luck. i make my own superstitions.
