food for a maritime rainstorm
1. bring a pot of water to boil. cook rotini according to package instructions.
2. heat olive oil in a pan on medium heat, and cook chopped vidalia onions & rounds of leeks for thirty minutes, or until soft, translucent and golden.
3. when pasta is cooked, drain and put in a large serving bowl. drizzle pasta with olive oil and stir in a good cupful of soft goat's cheese until the oil and cheese create a thin layer around the pasta, similar to an alfredo sauce. toss the leeks and onions into the bowl.
4. cut two pears in thin vertical slices and toss in the bowl, too.
5. peel a pommegranate; sprinkle for garnish.

new words, dearest!
mum & i just got home from a day of skiing, sleepy from drifting through snowstorms all afternoon. i made soup from a box with chickpeas & curry paste & i was thinking of you. hope you are having the most wonderful break.
what a lovely day you had! i went to the nutcracker ballet with my mum last night at the new four seasons -- my little cousin had quite a big part in it! i hope you are drinking your fill of eggnog and mulled wine, and that you have the happiest of christmasses.
