1. picking up bananas, a courgette, an onion from my green grocer on the way home from a lingering lunch at the market des enfants rouges & a snuggle-excuse for a movie in a rooftop apartment with a terrace the size of my bedroom. i was 31 centimes short, but he brushed me off: c'est pas grave, mademoiselle - la prochaine fois.

2. g. brought her kitten, fiesta, over to my apartment the night that i returned from nice. fiesta curls around my ankles when i return home & paws my face in the morning. that night, collecting my laundry, not quite free of dampness, i did not think to bring my wallet. as i was tossing sheets into the basket, i remembered that there was no kitty litter. i popped into the alimentation next door & the man, my neighbour & midnight-chocolate-witness, wrote my name & an IOU for 2.81 on a receipt that he kept next to the cash register.

3. the cheese man at the place monge market threw in an extra rondelle of Rocamadour for me, free of charge.
