prague, with its tangles of cobble-stoned streets and sloping red roofs, gargoyles & grotesque marionettes, the gem of a secluded coffeeshop in the Tyn square, herds of tourists clutching to their guidebooks & nosing the maps, the cheap czech beer & the absinth with australians, the quiet moments where the old czech citizens pause in the middle of their routine action, was full of those hopeful, but already explored, pebble-paved alleyways & tumbling hills with a view from the castle that has been photographed so many times. it was the quiet moments that i enjoyed most, there. walking across the charles bridge with my eyes lifted, jasmine mint tea, an antique bookshop on the castle hill, the sweeping road behind the royal palaces that led to walled in homes papered with ivy, & climbing the easter egg in the old time square after everybody had gone to sleep.
