walking through the gardens at the rond point des champs elysees, holding hands on the way to monmartre. he pulls the most ordinary looking of green leaves from a verdant bush & crinkles it underneath my nose: it smells like warm summer oranges. reaching ahead, he plucks a small bunch of miniature, fine pink flowers, so small they look like the effulgent beginnings of blossoming buds but are already in full bloom in this mild paris january. "tiens," he says, "des chevre-feuilles pour toi."

a postcard yesterday in the mail,
right up the staircase i did sail
to read all about your nothern musings
(finding the cowboy stickers quite amusing).
such tastes of adventuring from far away,
thankyou for pencil brightness in my day!
