music: dinner jazz strings looping
drinking: a cafe noisette
le café Luxembourg, with its shiny brown wicker chairs & patio doors open to the crepitating dusk, is home to a regular assortment of chess players who believe in playing slowly. they puff-puff on their cigars, pontificating their positions. the smell of my red wine got tangled up in smoke of their cigars & traced its way around my glass & through the shadows of the evening. eight o’clock: every church bell chimes.
